Biography
Raymond C. ‘Yogi’ Nelson, 79 of Douglasville, passed away, Saturday, April 11, 2009 in Cobb County. He was born February 23, 1930, in Cobb Co., to the late Marion H. Nelson and Pearl Gilstrap Nelson. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War, was self-employed in the trucking industry and Baptist by faith.
Survivors include his son, Raymond Cary Nelson of Douglasville; daughters and sons-in-law: Lorrie and Marcus Strickland of Navarre, Florida and Barbara and James Holland of Kennesaw; longtime friend and partner, Everlene White of Douglasville; grandchildren: Austin and Kelsey Holland; mother of his children, Stella Hill of Buchanan.
Memorial Services will be held Friday, April 17, 2009 at 7:00 pm, from Hightower’s Memorial Chapel.
The family will receive friends Friday, April 17, before and after the service, from 5:00 pm until 9:00pm.
According to his wishes, his body was cremated.
