We have been recognized with the distinct honor as "Best of the Best" in Douglas County! Thank you Douglas County for the confidence and trust you place in Hightower's Memorial Chapel.  We are honored to serve you and our community.

A select number of funeral homes are recognized annually by the National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA) for their commitment and dedication to excellence. We are pleased with our achievement in receiving this national recognition.  We, and our dedicated, professional and caring staff are proud and honored to receive such national attention.  The respect, professionalism and compassion we show our families are tried-and-true hallmarks of our commitment to the families in our communities and to funeral service as a whole.

Achieving a Pursuit of Excellence Award requires that a funeral home must meet strict quality service criterion in six categories of achievement.  Categories include: Basic Requirements, Continuing Education and Staff Development, Family Outreach and Support, Community Service and Education, Professional Association Service and Participation and Marketing, Advertising and Public Relations.  This award honors funeral homes for their outstanding service to families, commitment to the community and dedication to upholding the highest ethical and professional standards.

"Show me the manner in which a nation or a community cares for its dead and I will measure with mathematical exactness, the character of its people, their respect for laws of the land and their loyalty to high ideals."                                                                 ~Gladstone

The Function of Funeral in our Society

Death is the universal experience that inspires poets to write and artists to paint; yet most of us avoid the subject, or hurt so badly and feel so confused when confronted with death that we do not know what to think.

Loss of a loved one causes an overload of emotional response. It is a time when you feel greatly confused, a time when you are called upon to make numerous decisions and arrangements. If you are a widowed wife or husband, it is a time when you feel utterly alone.

In our society, however, grieving is a time for friends and family, for bestowing honor on the life of the deceased, for openly mourning death and for celebrating the living that continues.

The funeral is a time of bereavement. During funeral services, you draw strength from friends and family and from your spiritual beliefs. You reaffirm the value of your relationship with the deceased as you recount the joy of his/her life. And you begin to establish new identification with others as you face reality and enter a life redefined by the loss you have experienced.

Our professional staff at  Hightower's Memorial Chapel are committed to guiding you through the arrangement process and can handle many details for you.
