Obituary for Chief Wayne Arrington

Chief Wayne Arrington, age 80, of Lithia Springs, Georgia, passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2017. He was born in Atlanta, Georgia on November 9, 1936 to the late Pat Arrington and Louise Lawson Arrington. Wayne served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. He was a Mason with the Springhill Masonic Lodge #153 in Powder Springs, Georgia. He was a Shriner with the Yaarab Temple Shrine. He was an electrician by trade. Wayne had 34 years total service retiring as the founding Fire Chief for Douglas County Fire Department. He was a member of Austell First Baptist Church and a member of the Fisher's of Men Sunday School Class.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 53 years, Dale Bartlett Arrington; uncle and aunt; Glenn and Dorothy Lawson; aunt: Carolyn Lawson; sister-in-law: Nancy Arrington; nephew: Brian Arrington and wife, Mishaun; niece: Melanie Mabry and husband, Mark; cousin: Angie Welden; several cousins and great cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Dennis Arrington.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 24, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Beulah Baptist Church with Reverend Tim Ridgway and Reverend Johnny Foster officiating. He will lie in state at the church from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Interment will follow in Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends Thursday, March 23, 2016 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers are Mark Mabry, Jake Carter, Joel Gibbs, Tommy Brown, Scott Spencer and David Brown.
