Obituary for Quinton Gary "Pougie" Parks

Quinton Gary “Pougie” Parks, 70, of Paulding County, Georgia went to be with his Lord on December 31, 2017. He was born at Crawford Long Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia on January 30, 1947, to the late Fred and Florence Parks. He met Marthalyn Dailey in 1962. They were high school sweethearts, and on November 26, 1965, he married the love of his life. Together they raised three beautiful, strong and successful daughters. He was no stranger to work, and after 32 years of working for Chemcentral he retired. There was no task too big for him to conquer, and he was bound and determined to provide for his children what he himself did not have growing up. He loved Harley Davidson and working with his hands. A great measure for a person is all the names they are given in a lifetime. Quinton, Gary, Pougie and Pop are some of the names he will be remembered by but more importantly he will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend.
His parents, brothers, Bobby and Ray Parks, and brother-in-laws Wayne Pitts and Robert Freeman preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Marthalyn Dailey Parks; his children, Tracie (Lee) Isley of Dallas, Tammy (Jeff) Parker of Marietta and Kerri (Wayne) Newby of Temple; his grandchildren, Koby (Troy) Parker, Tanner Isley, Walker Isley, Mason Parker, Quinton Newby and Noah Isley; his brother, Thurmond (Alice) Parks; his sisters, Carolyn Pitts and Linda Freeman; 18 nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM m at Hightower’s Memorial Chapel.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at 2:00 PM from Hightower’s Memorial Chapel, 7034 W. Broad Street Douglasville, GA 30134. Quinton’s nephew, Rev. Tommy Freeman will officiate. Interment will follow at Meadowbrook Memory Garden Villa Rica, GA.
“It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone, for part of us went with you, the day God called you home.”
Hightower's Memorial Chapel of Douglasville has charge of the arrangements.
