Obituary for Eunice Odell Lumpkin

Mrs. Eunice Odell Hamby Lumpkin, age 81, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Sunday, June 9, 2019.  She was born in Warm Springs, Georgia, on December 10, 1937, the daughter of the late Carl J. Hamby and the late Eunice Irene Hite Hamby.  Eunice began her life-long career in nursing as a volunteer Candy Striper and led to her retirement as a Registered Nurse.  She has worked for the Straub Clinic and Hospital in Hawaii as well as Wellstar Kennestone Hospital. Eunice was an avid collector of Asian/Oriental Arts.  She had a vast array of ivory and jade as well as many pieces of jewelry and turtles and frogs.  She also loved animals, especially dogs, goats and birds.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Bobby J. Lumpkin; grandson, Christopher Lumpkin; and her sister, Carla Sweatt.
Eunice is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Kathy and Chris Hall of Douglasville; son: Emmett Lumpkin and his partner, Rose Thomas, of Douglasville; grandchildren: Raena Raines, Daniel Thomas and his wife, Caitlin, and Joshua Thomas; great grandchildren: Chase Raines, Marley Raines, Ian Thomas, and one on the way; brother and sister-in-law: Arnold and Mary Hamby of Smyrna; several nieces and nephews.
In accordance with her wishes, Eunice was cremated and a private gathering of family and friends will be held on a later date.
Following the cremation, entombment will take place in the columbarium next to her husband in Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
