Life Legacy

Patricia Joanne Carley Phillps, age 74, of Carrollton, formerly of Douglasville, passed away, September 8, 2010. She was born March 19, 1936 in Springfield, Mass. She was a retired school teacher, having taught in several states.

She held two Masters Degrees in education and special education. She was a published author, having published two books; one comedy and romance and the other on the potato famine in Ireland during the 1800’s. She was Baptist by faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Elizabeth and stepsons: John R. Martin and Michael R. Martin.

Survivors are her husband, Raymond E. Phillips of Carrollton, formerly of Douglasville; son: Greg Tiernnan of California; daughter: Allison Tiernnan of Kentucky; stepsons and spouses: Robert D. “Danny” and Ruby Martin of Douglasville; Charlie “Chuck” and Patsy Martin of Douglasville, 22 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Honorary escorts are the Sons of Confederate Veterans, Camp 943, Douglasville.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, September 11, 2010 at 11:00 AM from Hightower’s Memorial Chapel with Rev. Richard Bielski officiating. Music will be rendered by David Lybarger.

The family will receive friends Friday, September 10, 2010 from 4:30PM until 9:00 PM at the funeral home.

In accordance with her wishes, her body will be cremated following the service..
