Life Legacy

Frank Grainger, age 87, of Douglasville, passed away on Friday, August 27, 2010. He was born in Carroll County on November 12, 1922 to Robert F. and Mattie Johnson Grainger. He was an United States Army Veteran of World War II, having served during the Invasion of Normandy and the European Theater. Following the war, he served as a special Military Police for two years. He retired from the National Guard as a Lieutenant Colonel. Mr. Grainger worked as a Physicians Assistant for many years and retired as a charge nurse for Garden Terrace. He was a member of Douglasville Second Baptist Church and was a member of the Douglasville Lodge #289.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Heilburn.

He is survived by his wife, Claudia Mae Grainger of Douglasville; daughters, Tabatha Grainger of Lawrenceville, Sally Payne of Griffin, Connie Goins of Lawrenceville; sons,
Anthony Grainger, Teddy Heilburn; sisters and brother-in-law, Betty Taylor of Douglasville, Sara and G. H. Gilbert of Carrollton; brother and sister-in-law, Doyle and Lucille Grainger of Carrollton; brother-in-law, Billy Palmer of Lawrenceville; Granddaughter, Lacey Payne.

Funeral Services will be conducted Sunday, August 29, 2010 at 2:00 PM from Hightower’s Memorial Chapel with Pastor Freddie Blalock officiating.

Interment will follow the service in the Douglasville City Cemetery with Military Honors and Masonic Rites. Douglas Worthan, Tommy Taylor, Tony Worthan, Dwayne Worthan, Buddy Landmon and Ronnie Colburn will serve as Pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, August 28, 2010 from 5-8 pm and on Sunday, August 29, 2010, from 12:00 Noon until the funeral hour.
