Life Legacy


William Henry “Bill” Weidenbach, age 74, of Douglasville, passed away on Thursday, July 22, 2010. He was born on December 10, 1935 in Montgomery, Alabama,the son of the late William Henry Weidenbach, Sr. and the late Tommie Turner Weidenbach. Bill grew up in Auburn, Alabama and dearly loved this small town. Bill earned a Navy ROTC scholarship to attend Auburn University and received his Bachelor's of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He then served three years as a commissioned officer on the USS Henley. After his service in the Navy, Bill worked as a marketing manager for Georgia Power Company for 32 years. He ended his career with a successful business of his own, providing marketing services around the world. Bill was a member of the First Baptist Church of Douglasville where he has served as an usher and was a member of the "Son Risers" Sunday School Class.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Billy Weidenbach and his brother-in-law, Bill Powell.

He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Ann “Jackie” Pate Weidenbach, of Douglasville; son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Lois Weidenbach of Cumming; daughter and son-in-law, Cheryle and Terry Austin of Douglasville; grandchildren, Timothy Nathaniel Weidenbach, Alexander Sean Weidenbach, Allee Turner Austin and Zachary Thomas Austin; brothers and sisters-in-law, Joseph Thomas and Peggy Weidenbach of Eufaula, Alabama and Robert H. and Linda Weidenbach of Auburn, Alabama; sister, Alice Jean Weidenbach-Mintz, of Marietta; brother-in-law, James Randall Pate and his wife, Cindy, of Buchanan; sisters-in-law, Betty Joyce Powell of Bremen, Frances Louise Phillips and husband, Clyde, of Ralph, Alabama and Jimmie M. Moore and husband, John, of Hendersonville, TN.

Memorial Services will be conducted on Saturday, July 31, 2010 at 2:00 pm from Hightower’s Memorial Chapel with Dr. John Pennington officiating. Eulogy will be delivered by Tim Weidenbach. Terry Austin and Dr. Danny Koonce will render the music. Harpist Amy Bullard Bailey will provide instrumental selections.

Members of the Son Risers’ Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church, Douglasville are asked to serve as Honorary Escort.

The family will receive friends at Hightower’s Memorial Chapel on Saturday, July 31, 2010 from 12:00 Noon until the memorial hour.

In accordance with his wishes, his body was cremated.
