Obituary for Virginia Huddleston

Mrs. Virginia Heath Huddleston, age 86, of Douglasville passed away on Saturday, July 8, 2017. She was born in Gadsden, Alabama on July 24, 1930 daughter of the late Edward Allen Heath and the late Geneva Graves Heath. Virginia married Carroll Huddleston on March 29, 1949. She was a dedicated servant of the Lord. She served as staff Event Planner & Hostess and in the nursery at both West End Baptist Church and at Arbor Heights Baptist Church for a total of 47 years.
In addition to helping in the church, she loved crocheting and making gifts for family and friends. She enjoyed attending Bible studies taught by Sylvia Thompson. In her later years, Virginia learned to do Facebook and thoroughly enjoyed hearing from her old friends from West End Baptist Church, her first church home, and Brown High School where her children attended. She was currently a member of Chapel Hill Road Baptist Church.
She was married to the love of her life, Carroll, for 52 years. She would say, “Carroll was almost perfect as a husband and father. God richly blessed my family.”
Virginia is survived by daughters and son-in-law: Wanda and Michael Green of Eustis, Florida and Denise Lackey of Birmingham, Alabama; grandchildren: Heather and Merle Trubey of Jacksonville, Florida, Vanessa and Ken Wood of Umatilla, Florida, and Colton Hamrick Douglasville, Georgia; great grandchildren: Wesley Walker, Daniel Walker, Tanner Trubey, and Collin Trubey; special niece: Diana Hornsby of Ellijay, Georgia; sister-in-law: Faye Heath.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Carroll Huddleston; daughter, Darlene Hamrick; brothers: Bobby Heath, Howard Heath, Billy Ray Heath; nephew, David Heath; and son-in-law, David Lackey.
The family will receive friends at Hightower’s Memorial Chapel on Saturday, July 15, 2017 from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.
