Obituary for Thomas "Gene" Willis

Mr. Thomas “Gene” Willis, age 83, of Bremen, passed away Friday, August 25, 2017. He was born in Villa Rica, Georgia, on February 28, 1934, the son of the late Thomas and Josephine Willis. Gene graduated from Villa Rica High School in 1952 and was a successful route salesman for many years. He operated his own route business for over 20 years and also serviced a route for Golden Flake for a number of years. He was a member of Second Baptist Church of Douglasville.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers: Cleo Willis and Jack Willis; and his sister: Shirley Bivens.
Survivors include: his wife of 21 years, Elzonia Gazaway Peppers Willis of Bremen; children and their spouses: Melissa and Henry McElroy of McDonough, Tony Jerome Willis of Sharpsburg, Mark and Kathy Willis of Senoia, Timothy Eugene Willis of Sharpsburg, Carol and David Higgins of Gainesville, Billy Jack Peppers of Cedartown, and Kay McCain of Clarksville; grandchildren: Samantha and Sean Phillips, Jessica and James Hagelthorn, Henry Cole McElroy, Tonya and Cain McCoy, T.J. and Stephanie Willis, Hannah and Lee Heaberlin, Will and Lacey Willis, Marisa Willis, Kristina and Matt Swatzell, Geoffrey Higgins, Bradley Higgins, Melinda Peppers, Billy Peppers, Nicholas Smith, Tonya and Jeremy Waters, Tammy Head, and Brian and Abby McCain; great grandchildren: Logan Fletcher, Lucas Phillips, Lilyane Phillips, Alivia Hagelthorn, Levi Hagelthorn, Madeline Hagelthorn, Elizabeth McCoy, Aiden McCoy, Paisley Heaberlin, Bailey Heaberlin, Griffin Swatzell, Jaxson Swatzell, Kinley Swatzell, Trevor Waters, Mikah Waters, Ella Waters, Brayden Head, Nevaeh Keriaze, Lincoln McCain, Christian Peppers and Kameron Peppers; sisters-in-law: Frances Willis and Virginia Willis, both of Villa Rica; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Hightower’s Memorial Chapel on Monday, August 28, 2017, from 12:00 Noon until the Funeral Service begins at 2:00 P.M. with Brother Fred Blalock and Brother Jeremy Waters officiating.
Interment will follow in Sunrise Memorial Gardens with Will Willis, Brian McCain, Cole McElroy, James Hagelthorn, Trevor Waters, Geoffrey Higgins, Bradley Higgins, and Sean Phillips serving as Pallbearers.
